2026 Campaigns Have Begun!

Welcome back to the Power Builder, your one-stop resource for reproductive freedom news and resources!

What We’re Working On

The 2026 campaigns have begun! If you’re running for office, be sure to check out the Candidate Center on our website. Just a reminder we do not endorse federal elections.

What Brings Us Hope

Finally, good news from a medication abortion court case. A federal district court in Hawaii ruled that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) violated federal law by imposing medically unnecessary restrictions on Mifepristone (one of two pills used in medication abortions). While this ruling does not change patients’ ability to access medication abortion in the near term, it affirms the FDA’s legal obligation to consider the overwhelming evidence of Mifepristone’s safety, and not to impose restrictions that unduly burden patient access to this essential medication.

What You Can Do

Republicans in Congress say they are open to extending the ACA subsidies, but only if abortion restrictions are added to insurance plans. Because of the racist and discriminatory Hyde Amendment, federal funds can’t be used to cover abortion care. Some states allow people insured under ACA plans to access abortion coverage using state or other funding. Republicans want to change that.

Demand a clean vote on the ACA subsidies with no backdoor restrictions on abortion access. Call the capital switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and get connected with Senators Durbin and Duckworth.

Why Personal PAC?
I believe in building power that lasts beyond a single moment or election, and Personal PAC is one of the most effective political forces expanding and protecting abortion access anywhere in the country. Through decades of work, PPAC has built an infrastructure to prevent attacks before they happen. As someone who cares deeply about health care access, equity, and long-term systemic change, this is the kind of work I want to stand behind.

What is the one thing you’re most worried about right now?
I’m worried about complacency—the belief that because Illinois is considered “safe,” we can afford to take our foot off the gas. The opposition is well-funded, coordinated, and counting on people tuning out. The biggest risk we face is letting our guard down and thinking the work is done.

What’s the one thing you want people to know about Personal PAC?
Personal PAC is the reason why Illinois is a national model for policies that advance abortion care. Our work is year-round, deeply strategic, and focused on electing leaders up and down the ballot who will protect our rights when it matters most. If you care about health care access, equity, and the future of reproductive freedom—Personal PAC is one of the highest-impact places you can support.

Messaging Tips: Say This, Not That
