Welcome back to the Power Builder, your one-stop resource for reproductive freedom news and resources! As we head into the holidays, I hope you find connection and moments of kindness.
What We’re Working On
Here’s what PPAC is focused on right now and how you can be part of it.
Candidate questionnaires are out the door, and the Personal PAC board is holding interviews in the new year with candidates from across the state. Personal PAC is one of the most coveted endorsements in the state, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We take the time through our rigorous endorsement process because voters rely on us to deliver; we won’t let you down! Stay tuned for our 2026 Primary Election Voter Guide; it will be available on our Elections page soon.
What Brings Us Hope
A reminder that change is possible and you’re not alone in this fight.
Our partners in the Hands Off coalition had a significant victory last week when Governor Pritzker signed HB1312, a key pillar of the SALT (Safety and Action for Liberation Together) legislative platform. This new law is an essential step to protecting immigrant families in hospitals and strengthening access to health care without fear. What You Can Do
Your actions make a difference. Here’s how you can help this month.
- Send this email to 5 friends and encourage them to sign up for the newsletter to ensure they get our valuable 2026 voter guide. This season is a great time to gently engage friends and family in conversations about issues that matter to you, like abortion access.
- Our Resources page is full of tools, research, and messaging to ground those discussions with clarity and compassion.
What We’re Reading
Articles, research, and commentary we think are worth your time.
- Abortion Care Network Communities Need Clinics Report. Independent abortion clinics provide the majority of abortions in the U.S., providing care when and where others do not. But clinics are closing nationwide. Eighty percent of the independent clinics forced to close in 2024 and 2025 were in states considered legally protective.

- A Small Illinois City at the Center of a Seismic Shift in Abortion Access. Read about our Carbondale abortion clinic partners! We’re proud to be a part of the Illinois abortion ecosystem that’s protecting and expanding abortion access for everyone who needs it.
- Rise of crisis pregnancy centers highlights shift in anti-abortion movement. On December 1, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, Inc. v. Platkin, a case that could determine whether crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) are given free rein to deceive women under the guise of free speech. Read more about the case here.

Why Personal PAC?
Throughout its over 35-year history, Personal PAC turned Illinois from being one of the most anti-abortion states to a national model for abortion access and policy. The candidates who Personal PAC elects are responsible for passing critical legislation, including repealing the dangerous Parental Notice of Abortion Act and abolishing the horrific trigger law before was overturned.
What do you want to see for Illinois’ reproductive freedom future?
I would like to see a state where Republicans support the full spectrum of reproductive health care, from IVF to abortion to prenatal and postnatal care to birth control. I miss the days when Personal PAC’s endorsement lists were full of Republicans and Democrats. I want women to be guaranteed safe and legal abortions, access to birth control, and the morning-after pill. I want doctors available to perform abortions and funding for clinics that provide them.
What is the one thing you’re most worried about right now?
- Low voter turnout because of the misconception that Illinois is “safe.”
- Abortion being perceived as an issue that only affects women.
- Decrease in OB/GYN residents and doctors leaving the profession.
What’s the one thing you want people to know about Personal PAC?
PPAC knows that abortion is health care, and we will continue to work every day to preserve it.
Messaging Tips: Say This, Not That
